Dana James
Postdoctoral Fellow | University of British Columbia
Dana is a postdoctoral research fellow and settler researcher with the Lab for Environmental Assessment and Policy at UBC. In collaboration with northern Indigenous research partners, her work focuses on mapping the Arctic contaminants governance landscape; co-creating a shared curriculum on using community-based monitoring findings for policy advocacy; and supporting learning exchanges and policy fellowships for Indigenous leaders to undertake policy-relevant action-research across scales.
As a community-engaged researcher, Dana aims to center community partner priorities in her work to ensure projects are grounded in principles of respect and relevance. Her previous partner-led research has examined how to scale out agroecology across Latin America, and how Indigenous-led conservation initiatives (such as IPCAs) can advance Indigenous food sovereignty.
